Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test 2017-18

Mahatma Gandhi University is one of the affiliating Universities of Kerala, situated in the Central Kerala District of Kottayam. Applications are invited for Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test (CAT-MGU 2017-17) for admissions to the Post Graduate programmes in the Statutory Teaching Departments and Inter School Centre of the University. The admissions based on CAT-MGU will be through a Centralized allotment Process. There will be separate entrance test for various programmes offered by the university. The candidates need to register only one application for opting a maximum of 4 academic programmes/ cluster of programmes based on their eligibility.

CAT-MGU 2017 Exam Result

The result for CAT-MGU 2017 will be published on 2nd June 2017. Provisional rank list of candidates will be published on the same date. Candidates can check the result of the exam on the official website, www.cat.mgu.ac.in.

CAT-MGU 2017 Admit Card

Admit Cards will be available for candidates to download on the official website,www.cat.mgu.ac.in from 13th May onwards. Candidates must take a printout of their admit card for future use.Entry in examination hall will only be allowed with the admit card.

CAT-MGU 2017 Programmes and their Eligibility Criteria

School of Chemical Sciences:

Programmes: M.Sc Chemistry (Inorganic Chemistry), M.Sc Chemistry (OrganicChemistry), M.Sc Chemistry (Physical Chemistry), M.Sc Chemistry (Polymer Chemistry)

Eligibility Criteria: Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiaries with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III.

School of Pure and Applied Physics:

Programmes:M.Sc Physics (with Elective papers in many frontier areas of

Physics)

Eligibility Criteria: Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Physics with Mathematics as a subsidiary with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III.

School of Biosciences:

Programmes:M.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Microbiology, M.Sc Biophysics

Eligibility Criteria: Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or Physics with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the subject concerned with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or degree in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part IIMalayalam.

Programmes: M.A. English

Eligibility Criteria:Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the subject concerned with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or degree in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part I English.

School of International Relations and Politics:

Eligibility CriteriaCandidate must have a bachelor’s degree inEconomics/Mathematics/Statistics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Core and Complementary subjects or equivalent degree from an institution approved by Mahatma Gandhi University.

CAT-MGU 2017 Exam Pattern

  • There will be objective type multiple-choice questions for all programmes except for those in School of Letters, School of Tourism Studies, and School of Indian Legal Thought for which both multiple choice questions and descriptive type questions will be asked.
  • The duration of test will be 90 minutes for all the programmes.
