Common Law Admission Test CLAT 2017

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance test conducted on rotation by 17 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The 9th Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2017) will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab.

The 17 participating NLUs in the order of their year of establishment are:

  1. National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU)
  2. National Academy of Legal Study and Research University of Law, Hyderabad (NALSAR)
  3. The National Law Institute University, Bhopal(NLIU)
  4. The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (WBNUJS)
  5. National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ)
  6. Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (HNLU)
  7. Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU)
  8. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (RMLNLU)
  9. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (RGNUL)
  10. Chanakya National Law University, Patna (CNLU)
  11. The National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi (NUALS)
  12. National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO)
  13. National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi (NUSRL)
  14. National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA)
  15. Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam (DSNLU)

Common Law Admission Test CLAT 2016 will be conducted on 8th May 2016.

Admit Card for CLAT 2017 will be out soon and candidates can download their admit card from the official website,www.clat.ac.in from 19th April 2017.

CLAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for the CLAT 2017.

For Under-Graduate

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with the minimum of 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category).
  • Candidates who are appearing for the 10+2 examination in April/May 2017 are also eligible to apply for the CLAT 2017 exam.
  • There is no upper age limit set for the exam.

For Post-Graduate

  • Candidate must have completed the LL.B. or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST category).
  • Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination in April/May 2017 are also eligible to apply for the CLAT 2017 exam.
  • There is no upper age limit set for the exam.

CLAT 2017 Exam Pattern

For Under-Graduate

  • There will be a total of 200 multiple-choice questions of one mark each.
  • The questions will be based on following subjects- English including Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.
  • 25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours.

For Post-Graduate

  • There will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions of one mark each.
  • The questions will be based on following subjects- Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Other subjects such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, and IPR etc.
  • 25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours.

CLAT 2017 Important Dates

Availability of admit card- From 19th April 2017

Date of online exam- 8th May 2017

Date of availability of result- 23rd May 2017

Counselling and seat allotment- From 1st June to 6th June 2017

CLAT 2017 Admit Card

Candidates can download their admit card from the website,www.clat.ac.in by logging into his/her LOGIN account from 19thApril 2017. Candidates are advised to take a printout of the admit card and carry the same to the examination hall.Entry in examination hall will only be allowed with the admit card.

CLAT 2017 Result

The result of CLAT 2017 will be declared on 23rd May 2017. Candidates can check their results by logging into their accounts. The result details of the CLAT 2017 will include the All India Rank (AIR), State Rank and State Category Rank. The rank will be decided on the basis of scores obtained by the candidate in the examination.
