Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) 2017

Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is a state-level test conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) for admission to B. Tech./B. Pharmacy/B.Pharmacy (Ayurveda), M.Tech, M.Pharmacy, MCA, and MBA courses.

The official website to apply for HPCET 2017 is http://www.himtu.ac.in.

The online submissions of HPCET 2017 application form were available from 2nd March 2017 on the official website http://www.himtu.ac.in. The last date to apply for application forms is 1st May 2017.Last date for receiving the scanned copy of the Application Form duly signed by candidate’s parents through e-mail on himtuadmission@gmail.com on or before 2nd May 2017.The application fee for SC/ST/BPL is Rs. 1400 and for others Rs. 1550.

Steps to apply for HPCET 2017

Here are the steps to apply for the HPCET 2017 Application process.

  • Open the website http://www.himtu.ac.in and click the button Apply Online.
  • Click Register Now icon on the screen. Enter all the essential information required. A unique form number generated by the system will be displayed on the screen. The username and form number generated by the system will be delivered to the e-mail address provided during the registration.
  • Now login with the username, password, Application Form Number and Date of Birth. Enter all the basic form detail and select the appropriate program you want to apply for.
  • In the next step upload the scanned images of Photograph and Signature.
  • Now, in the next step make the fee payment,application fee can be paid through e-Challan/credit/debit card.
  • In the last step click on the Final Submit button for submitting your application form. Take a print out of the Application Form(PDF) and get it signed from your parents/guardian and send it duly scanned through e-mail ID himtuadmission@gmail.com.

HPCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for the HPCET 2017.

For B.Tech.

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
  • Candidate must have secured at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category students) in the above subjects taken together.

For B.Pharmacy

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
  • Candidate must have secured at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category students) in the above subjects taken together.
  • Candidate should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.

For B.Pharmacy (Ayurveda)

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate must have secured at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category students) in the above subjects taken together.

For M.Tech.

  • Candidate should have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the relevant field having at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserved category).

For M.Pharmacy

  • Candidate should have a recognized Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent having at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserved category).

For MBA

  • Candidate should have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserved category).

For MCA

  • Candidate should have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration withMathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level securing at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserved category).

Candidates who are appearing for their 10+2/Bachelor Degree examination in March/April 2017 are also eligible to appear in HPCET 2017.

HPCET 2017 Exam Pattern

  • The entrance exam for each course will be conducted in Offline(Pen and Paper based) mode.
  • All the questions will be objective type questions.
  • Two marks will be given for every correct answer and 0.50 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

(I) Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (Ayurveda) (B.Pharm Ayurveda)

  • There will be three sections named Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology.
  • The exam will carry 300 marks in total.
  • There will be 50 questions from each section.
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
  • Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics shall be eligible for B.Tech/B. Pharmacy whereas candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry & Biology shall be eligible for B. Pharmacy or B. Pharmacy (Ayurveda).

For M.Tech

  • There will be three sections namedAptitude Test, Branch Subject, and Engineering Mathematics.
  • The exam will carry 200 marks in total.
  • Three will be 15 questions from Aptitude Test section, 60 questions from Branch Subject section and 25 questions from Engineering Mathematics section.
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

For M. Pharmacy

  • There will be three sections named Aptitude Test, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence.
  • The exam will carry 200 marks in total.
  • Three will be 15 questions from Aptitude Test section, 60 questions from Pharmaceutical Sciencessection and 25 questions from Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

For MCA

  • There will be three sections named Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Reasoning and General Knowledge & Computer Awareness.
  • The exam will carry 200 marks in total.
  • Three will be 25 questions from each section.
  • The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.

For MBA

  • There will be three sections named Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Reasoning and General Knowledge & Computer Awareness.
  • The exam will carry 200 marks in total.
  • Three will be 25 questions from each section.
  • The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.

HPCET 2017 Admit Card

Admit Card will be made available for candidates on the official website, i.e. www.himtu.ac.in. Candidates are advised to take the printout of admit card and keep it safe until the end of the admission process. Entry in examination hall will only be allowed with the admit card.
